چکیده

Dear Editor, Currently, coronary stent implantation is employed in approximately 90% of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) cases. Despite the use of drug-eluting stents (DES), coronary in-stent restenosis (ISR) remains an Achilles’ heel of PCI and can occur in about 10% of patients in the real-world population.1,2 We explored the effi cacy of a novel approach using drug-eluting balloon (DEB) in the treatment of our patients with ISR.

Overview of Intracoronary Brachytherapy for in-Stent Restenosis of a Drug-Eluting Stent

Percutaneous coronary intervention with stenting is considered recently as the most common procedure for the treatment of symptomatic coronary. The article reviewed 41 studies published during 1997-2019 on intracoronary brachytherapy for in-stent restenosis of a drug-eluting stent. Intracoronary radiation therapy was finally confirmed in the setting of in-stent restenosis using as adjunctive th...

Association of G22A variant of Adenosine Deaminase gene with coronary in-stent restenosis in coronary artery patients receiving drug-eluting stent

In-stent restenosis (ISR) is regarded as the main problem in the utilization of stents in the treatment of coronary artery atherosclerotic stenosis in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). This study investigated the possible role of the G22A variant of the Adenosine Deaminase gene (ADA) in the development of ISR. In this study, 91 patients who underwent PCI were divided into two groups of ...

No-Reflow Phenomenon During Treatment of Coronary In-Stent Restenosis With a Paclitaxel-Coated Balloon Catheter

Drug-eluting balloon (DEB) with angioplasty a paclitaxel-coated balloon catheter is an effective treatment option in patients with in-stent restenosis (ISR) after a drug-eluting stent (DES). We describe a case in which 'no-reflow' phenomenon developed after DEB angioplasty of a DES ISR lesion. Coronary flow was restored after intracoronary administration of nicorandil.

Drug-eluting coronary stents – focus on improved patient outcomes

The development of stent has been a major advance in the treatment of obstructive coronary artery disease since the introduction of balloon angioplasty. Subsequently, neointimal hyperplasia within the stent leading to in-stent restenosis emerged as a major obstacle in long-term success of percutaneous coronary intervention. Recent introduction of drug-eluting stents is a major breakthrough to t...

Letter by Alfonso et al regarding article, "Paclitaxel-coated balloon catheter versus paclitaxel-coated stent for the treatment of coronary in-stent restenosis".

BACKGROUND Treatment of in-stent restenosis with paclitaxel-coated balloon catheter as compared with plain balloon angioplasty has shown surprisingly low late lumen loss at 6 months and fewer major adverse cardiac events up to 2 years. We compared the efficacy and safety of a paclitaxel-coated balloon with a paclitaxel-eluting stent as the current standard of care. METHODS AND RESULTS One hun...
